LOST April 1, 2009

ok, now to the good stuff!! for rk tho, antm continues to be infuriating. fortunately, Fo is lookin' hot FO SHO!!
RK Note: I saw the first 10 min of antm so far, havent watched the rest yet, but i am LOVING the dramz this ep! on the whole though, this season is super boring so far.

1:00 - huh. what's matt saracen's mom doing on Lost? shouldnt she be in Dillon, Texas?
CB Note: I'd like to point out that Justin literally had no recollection of Cassidy. What is wrong with him??
RK Note: I do not understand your reference and dont know who saracen is.
CB Note: The reference is to Friday Night Lights. The woman who plays Cassidy on Lost, is one of the main characters moms on FNL.

2:00 - cb is going all in for a Kate backstory ep... sounds like a good nut to me.

3:00 - omfg sayid just shot ben!!!!
CB Note: .....in the previously on Lost scenes.....

4:00 - wait didnt that happen last week?
RK Note: Are you serious? How do you ENJOY this show without being able to remember anything? Over the weekend I saw Arielle's stepbrother and he tried to talk to me about Lost, and he was like "I just can't wait to see how Danielle and Ben meet and wind up getting together!" and I was like "huh?" and he was like "You know, and have Alex together?" and I was like "uh, they didn't HAVE alex together, she's not their biological child, Danielle was pregnant when she came to the island and the Others STOLE her baby when the pillar of smoke came up and then Ben raised Alex, and besides none of that happens for YEARS until the 1980s when Danielle and her french folks land on the Island!" and he was like "But we just saw Danielle land on the island a few episodes ago!" and I was like "they're traveling through TIME, that was a different point in TIME," and clearly he is like not comprehending the BASIC tenets of the show, and I found it very upsetting, and how can he possibly enjoy watching when he clearly can't even follow it! Anyway I am starting to wonder this about you, Nash! Not to that level of appallingness though.
CB Note: No offense, but Arielle's stepbrother is kind of an idiot. Just saying....
RK Note: CLEARLY. I was appalled when he revealed this knowledge. Then he tried to talk to me about maybe going to law school. I'm skeptical about how he'll handle law school when he can't follow the plot of Lost. Just saying...
CB Note: I'm just surprised you found someone who could follow the storyline worse than J!! I mean, even my mom understands more than this kid. And that's saying something!

5:00 - imo, young ben totally woulda bled out if hes been lying there that long. i think House would agree.
CB Note: It just happened. Just because he was shot last week on the show, doesn't mean he's been lying there for a week babe.
Rk Note: LOL Caryn. Also did anyone see House this week? WHAT a good Ep, and that Locked In syndrome is TERRIFYING!
CB Note: We can't watch House live or DVR is cause we have too many conflicts, so we watch on Hulu when it comes up about 10 days after. But, i did hear that the ep was supposed to be excellent with wonderful acting by Mos Def, so i'm pretty excited!
RK Note: Mos Def was SO GOOD!!! This ep was awesome, lots to be excited about!!!

6:00 - they looked at all of the security cameras covering the giant perimeter already horace? i dunno... and, if he thinks its an inside job, he'd be interrogating people.
CB Note: And what about all the security cameras that they have that shows like EVERY area of the village?

7:00 - i think roger linus has the hots for kate. BILL IT.
RK Note: He totally does. We really saw a softer side of him this episode!

8:00 - nutted it. he's shouting "that's my kid" at ben. i knew roger was his dad.
CB Note: Please let this be another April Fools joke...
RK Note: PLEASE let this be an April Fools joke. We A) have seen Roger before as Ben's dad in past seasons, but B) we saw him as Ben's dad JUST LAST WEEK in Sayid's cell abusing Ben, we clearly KNOW who Roger is now.

9:00 - cb says kate's rainy day falling star song has been on the show before.
CB Note: Nut! Lostpedia confirms what the song has been featured twice previously on Lost:

On the first occasion, Claire requests that the Stewarts (her child's prospective adoptive parents) sing "Catch a Falling Star" to the baby after he is born, just like her father had done for her. It is later revealed that her father is Christian Shephard, and that he sang to her as a baby.
The melody that plays on the Oceanic airplane mobile hanging above the crib in the Staff (DHARMA Station) nursery is from this song.

10:00 - i just made cb pause to tell me who saracen's mom is. ok, cb says she's the woman who sawyer conned and had his baby. i thought i remembered cb telling me this a week or 2 ago. she met kate and they conned together? i dont remember that AT ALL. i guess it explains why kate is going to see her though - I mean how kate knows her. also, does this have anything to do with sawyer's secret promise that kate wont tell jack about?
CB Note: Full description of who Cassidy is:

Cassidy Phillips was a recently divorced woman whom Sawyer conned out of $600,000. After thwarting his usual routine of "accidentally" dropping the briefcase full of money, she asked him to teach her how to con and they spent the next few months working small scams. Once she felt confident in her skills, she asked Sawyer to teach her a long con, and offered her own money as capital. The two of them may have been in love; however, Sawyer still took her money, and left her. After realizing she'd been conned, she set out on the road. While in Iowa, she tried to con people using the techniques she had been taught by Sawyer. Unfortunately, she was not as successful as she hoped. When a man she was trying to con at a service station threatened to call the police, a young lady (Kate) stepped forward and pretended to buy her fake jewelry to help her out. The two got together for drinks at a local bar where Cassidy promised to help Kate talk to her mother, Diane.
Cassidy first helped Kate by going to Diane's house disguised as a Bible saleswoman who could easily be mistaken for Kate, so that they could have an idea of how heavily guarded Diane's house was. After being taken in for questioning and eventually released, Cassidy and Kate decided to take a different approach. While in the diner that Diane worked at, Cassidy spilled some food on Diane, forcing her to go to the bathroom where Kate was waiting to talk to her. Afterwards, Cassidy confided her story about Sawyer to Kate and the fact that she became pregnant by him while they were together. However, she never told Kate his name, and the two of them went their separate ways.
Cassidy later reported Sawyer to the police, landing him in jail. While Sawyer was in prison, Cassidy visited him and showed him a picture of a baby girl named Clementine, whom she claimed was his daughter. Sawyer rejected the notion that he could be her father, but later opened a bank account in Albuquerque, in Clementine's name, with the earnings from his prison con.

RK Note: SERIOUSLY Justin? If we all didn't know already it had to do with what Sawyer whispered to Kate before jumping, I think the "previously on Lost" clips this week preceding the show that SHOWED Cassidy telling Sawyer about Clementine, SHOWED how Kate and Cassidy knew eachother, and SHOWED Sawyer whispering something to Kate before jumping, painted a very clear picture to the audience that DUH, YES, they have "something to do with eachother."
CB Note: Exactly! J did not pay attention AT ALL to the previously on clips, which spelled everything out for us.

CB Note: They're so fishy. I for one would like more Skate scenes please!

16:00 - isnt it a little odd that roger is upset that ben's been injured? doesnt roger hate ben...?
CB Note: I mean, he's no father of the year, but that doesn't mean he wants his son to die!

17:00 -juliet says ben needs jack to be his surgeon!! im pretty sure i predicted this at the end of last week's blog. somebody check. and afterwards, BILL IT!
RK Note: I'm pretty sure that was me, but I think it is NOT to be billed, and counts as a big fat RAISIN for both of us, as Jack does NOT operate on Ben and refuses to! Which clearly was all preordained to happen in the past because it led to Ben's soul being sold to the Others!

18:00 - good explanation of back 2 the future time travel hurley. that was for all the dumb people out there who dont understand Lost time travel theory. followed by Miles' good explanation, carrying on the Faraday torch.
CB Note: I thought the Hurley Back to the Future comment was hilarious, due to pretty much every person watching this season comparing its time travel to the movie.
RK Note: HILARIOUS scene! I love that they talked through all the theories viewers have been debating over!

19:00 - love this sawyer jack showdown on whether to help ben. esp following the miles-hurley explanation of time travel. jack is so dumb tho, ben's obvi gonna live. faraday knows all!
CB Note: The Hurley-Miles stuff was just brilliant this week. They took everything that the viewers have been thinking/saying/questioning and put it in Hurley's mouth! When they first started time-traveling, we were asking why people in the future didn't remember meeting them in the past...and that's exactly what Hurley asked!! Why didn't Ben remember Sayid?!?! (Of course this was explained at the end of the ep by Richard all mysteriouslike)

21:00 - whoa, great idea, getting blood from a universal donor. i cant believe kate was the only universal donor in all of dharmaville!!! /sarcasm
CB Note: They didn't ask around tho. She just came and volunteered.

22:00 - hey, random question: why is juliet acting as the head doctor? i thought she was a mechanic...???
CB Note: They said that the surgeon is at another station for a couple weeks!! Obvi they don't have a second doctor lol.

23:00 - more miles and hurley lol. it was as if the writers just walked on screen and said: "HEY! Remember in season 2 how ben asked for a certain gorup of people to be sent to the Others... IT WAS ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING IN DHARMAVILLE!"

24:00 - cb says he didn't ask for sayid. but anyway, ben from earlier seasons knew our Losties already, as we already established in this blog. way to go us!!

25:00 - caryn also again notes how that conversation was for viewers' benefits to explain Lost time travel, as i indicated during its first iteration earlier in the ep.

26:00 - whoa juliet just suggested going to the Others for help. whoaaaaaa.

33:00 - i was wondering why we were watching that sun holding up ben scene again, and cb brilliantly noted that we apparently are gonna get to see it from everyone's perspective.
CB Note: We've pretty much seen if from everyone so far. Only Ben is left, and looks like we'll get that next week! Woot!!

34:00 - kate looks great in that outfit in the grocery store, amirite?
RK Note: She really does! I laughed out loud when aaron changed his mind and didn't want milk anymore but wanted juiceboxes. He is such a cute kid!!!
CB Note: I loved Kate's hair and dress in these scenes.
RK Note: I know! She was such a pretty mommy! I loved the contrast also, to how back on the island she had a ponytail and was all dressed for dharmaville.
CB Note: Yes! Especially with the hair. She looks so adult and put together off island. She's obviously grown up a lot since pre-island, you can tell just by how she puts herself together. What I want to know is, OBVIOUSLY, based on juliet's (and sawyer's) hair, they have blow dryers and hair straighteners in dharmaville, so why doesn't kate fix up her hair! It looks so messy, a la her first trip to the island.

35:00 - who stole aaron?! the juiceboxes??? nope, it was the claire look-alike! again, nicely nutted cb.
RK Note: Yay CB nut! For a minute I can't lie, when she couldn't find aaron, I was like oh NO is Hurley right, did they do something back in 1977 that changed the past and Aaron disappeared into thin air and now no longer exists, a la back to the future?!
CB Note: Lol, that would have been funny.

36:00 - well, cb nutted it 5secs in advance that kate gave aaron to saracen's mom. i considered this earlier in the ep, thinking maybe thats why shes in this ep and all. its just, i thought i remembered it being clearly set up earlier this season that we were meeting claire's bio mom again in the motel meeting the lawyer in order to have a place to leave aaron. cb says that could have been a red herring, unfortunately. shoulda been mah nutzor.
CB Note: I guessed this as a possibility, as an alternative to all of our prior guesses of Claire's mom. Just to put it out there. They did set it up for Claire's mom, I was just kind of hoping it was too obvious and they'd throw us a switcheroo, oh well.
RK Note: RAISIN Nash, for claiming cb nutted something and affirming it as a valid nut, when in fact it was a big raisin, and Caryn clearly knew it was an alternative set up. I had the same thoughts as Caryn noted in her CB nut, above, but it just made SO little sense for Cassidy to want to take on caring for Aaron that I hoped it wasn't really what happened.

47:00 - hey, claire's bio mom is on screen! but where's aaron? kate: yes, your daughter claire is alive, and hanging out with the ghosts of dead men who got you preggers who also may or may not be Jacob...
RK Note: Kate is all "Claire is alive!" whereas I am not so sure! I thought her hanging out in Jacob's cabin with Christian meant she was a ghost and was dead! Usually when people disappear they're dead, right? I would be shocked if they went back and actually were ABLE to find Claire! But this episode set it up as if maybe they WILL!!
CB Note: Well, Kate at least doesn't know that Claire was hanging out with Christian in the cabin. I think as far as she knows, Claire just got up and walked away in the middle of the night when she, Hurley, and Sawyer were coming back from the Others' area.
RK Note: That is true, but considering the dangers lurking on the island, I'm not sure where Kate gets such CONVICTION that Claire is alive... Like why would Claire have gone off on her own for so many days and not tried to return unless something was terribly wrong and she were in danger/injured/dead? But Kate seemed very convinced Claire was alive! Maybe she is, I mean I hope she is, but I dunno...
CB Note: True, she has no reason to think Claire is alive, especially considering how she left. Maybe she was just being hopefuly for Aaron's sake and needed to find out one way or the other. She wants Aaron to be reunited with his really mom! There's definitely a twist with Claire, can't wait to find out what happened to her.

48:00 - hey, whyd kate decide to go back to the island? wasn't she like kinda set against it? or is this where a scene with the lawyer happened while we were waiting to get on flight? bc i dont think she was goin just to find aaron's mummers.

CB Note: He knows who Ben is, he saw Sawyer carrying a wounded boy, so he was like, "oh noes! ben?!" PS, shouldnt him having known Ben's name clued you in to the fact that he DID know Ben, babe?

CB Note: I'm definitely in on the Ellie+Charles coupling and being Faraday's parents and meaning Penny could be his half/full sister! I can't wait til that stuff comes out.
RK Note: Everyone is so inter-related, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it!!!!!!! Also Jack is Aaron's uncle because he's Claire's half brother, I wonder if Aaron knows that. Poor Aaron, Mommy is gone and so is Uncle Jack. Also, POOR SUN'S BABY, I bet she misses mommy!!!
CB Note: I love how everyone is intertwined :) And ditto to the wtf about sun's baby. How could she just leave her like that!

59:00 - Richard's taking him to the creepy ancient temple that possessed Rousseau's shipmates!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. i thought he'd take him to jacob tbh.
RK Note: AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I hope Ben doesn't get all possessed and evil like Rousseau's men did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although we do KNOW he gets evil, so... I blame the temple. HOW DOES THE BLACK SMOKE MONSTER PLAY INTO ALL THIS THO?!?!?!!! will Smokey heal Ben?!
CB Note: Also cant wait to find out more of the temple of doom. What happens in there?! Obviously something that turns people into Others, since Danielle's men all turned against her and what Richard said that Ben will now always be one of them. Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
RK Note: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I know! I wonder if the Temple harnesses all of the Island's magical powers? I bet the Temple was built by like original Other natives who built the four-toed statute way back when. I wonder if the Temple is like a rite of Other initiation. But how come Richard Alpert as an Other seems like a good guy, whereas Danielle's men turned all terrible and the smoke monster spit them out? I wonder if the Temple/Smoke Monster are sort of like the Sorting Hat, and if you're good of heart it turns you into a nice Other, but if you're bad it makes you crazy and evil? That doesn't make much sense given what we know about Ben in the future and stuff, but... I just wonder!!
CB Note: I feel like Richard is pretty much the only "nice" other, in general. Everyone else has seemed pretty mean (Danielle's group, the guys in the 50s that found Sawyer/Juliet - including widmore, ethan, the other guy who try to kill ana lucia....etc). I wonder if Richard's niceness has more to do with why he's seemingly immortal. He's obviously special in some way and seems to be smarter/calmer than the other Others.
