A Clash of Kings Entry 9

Begin with Jon and the Night's Watch finding this hill ring/base that the first men used. They decide to set up camp to wait there for reinforcements before they go after Mance Rayder. Ghost is freaaaaaaaaked out and won't go in the circle. See when animals are freaked out you know something baaaaaaaaad is gonna happen. Jon also gets a bad sense of foreboding. Eventually Ghost returns and lead Jon out of the circle to a fresh grave. Jon digs it up and finds the clothes and weapons of a Night's Watchman. Eek. This is noooooooo good.
CB Note: I wonder what Ghost knows! If I had a direwolf, named Patches, I would never go anywhere he didn't like. Afterall, he's just trying to keep me safe! Also, the weapons Jon digs up are no regular weapons...they're dragonglass!! We learned in book 1 that this was what the children of the forest used to use to make their weapons!
JN Note: whose grave was it? how did hte weapons get there? what's dragongless?! this little hill fort reminded me of Weathertop in LOTR.
RK Note: Was it a grave at all? I thought it was just a site where the weapons were recently buried by someone in the Night's Watch. But how did that person get dragonglass weapons? I wish I had a direwolf, I'd name her Cupcake.

To Bran and one of the frog dude's (that's what i'm gonna call him) greendreams comes true. Maester Luwin brings news that Robb won a big victory but one of the Frey's uncles died and Bran was upset cause Robb wasn't coming home but the Frey's didn't seem to care. Robb went to talk to frog dude who told him of a dream of the sea swallowing up winterfell and certain people drowning (um, I won't make the obvious connection to the Greyjoys here). No one believes him though! Something else happens here but I don't remember lol.
CB Note: Why won't you make the connection? If you make no connections, you can't make any nuts! What also happens in this chapter - Ser Rodrik returns with a prisoner, Reek, a servant of Ramsay Snow (Bolton's Bastard) who got killed in the scuffle when Rodrik went to help out with Lady Hornwood. Jojen (aka frog dude) has another greendream about Reek murdering Bran and Rickon and skinning off there faces. Oh noes!!
JN Note: hey, i heard about this big victory. sansa told me! hmm, there was a feast, and bran had hte choicest morsel, but didn't eat it, and the frey's were served a cold dish, but ate it well. trixxy you frogdreamer! ok well, we are noting your "obvious connection" and we'll see whether it comes to nuts or raisins... or dried cranberries, which im eating with sharp white cheddar this very moment. lastly, i CANNOT BELIEVE you failed to blog the second, and even scarier greendream!
RK Note: YUM craisins and sharp white cheddar together sounds DELICIOUS. So I really hope greendreams DON'T always come true and there is a way to change this and the sea does not engulf winterfell and drown everyone and Bran does not have his face skinned off. Also I wonder how the Drowned God plays into these potential drownings. I think its clear Theon has some plan to march on Winterfell and take it over, and so maybe Jojen is dreaming like in METAPHOR and its not the LITERAL sea coming and drowning people in Winterfell, it's the Greyjoys coming and killing people with their armies so its like a metaphorical sea. Maybe Jojen's dreams aren't always literal.

To Tyrion who is bringing news of Renly's downfall to the counsel. They resolve to offer to marry Joffrey to Renly's widow to get the Flower knight and his people on their side. They end up sending Littlefinger as an envoy which in my opinion is not a good idea because his loyalty to anyone is dubious. Tyrion thinks Cersei is up to something b/c she says something about how she thinks Tyrion is great and kisses him on the forehead.
CB Note: That Cersei is a trixxy one - she's never kissed him! What is she up to??
JN Note: ohnoes! this is terrible news. i hope the Tyrells are smart, and don't make an alliance with stoopid Joffrey and the Lannisters!!! Hopefully littlefinger doublecrosses them. in fact, lets cross our littlefingers and hope for it!!
RK Note: LOL to cross our littlefingers. Cersei is SO up to something, wish Tyrion had been able to convince her to go and deal with the marriage arrangements far away from Kings Landing. Tyrion has enough on his plate building the chain and training the guard to throw the wildfire and getting all the defense together, while people in the city starve. Sounds like a miserable place to be.

To Theon who is raiding fishing villages and in a fowl mood. He proposes to some old dude (whose name I don't know) that they go inland and lay siege to one of Winterfell's liege lord's castles. But he doesn't want this castle. He has some scheme in mind and methinks it is to head to Winterfell before his sister. I think this is gonna end bad. They will end up fighting each other brother v. sister at winterfell and no good will come for them.
CB Note: That "old dude" is Dagmer Cleftjow, the master-at-arms for the Pyke. That Theon is such a smooth talker, but he's also quite the hothead!
JN Note: a fowl mood? or a foul mood? or intended water bird humor? theon dont do it! Ned was good to you! Robb was good to you!! stop attacking the North you dummy!!! your family doesn't even like you. in fact, theon is so dumb and horny, he sort of reminds me of a young teenage mm, trying to chase tail on his mail routes...
RK Note: LB, so Theon is in the mood for chicken or perhaps another choice bird? :) LOL to young teenage mm. Theon is so dumb, he should be loyal to the North and be loyal to Robb, not attack Winterfell his home where he grew up! His own family doesn't even like him! He's just a dumb misdirected hotheaded kid. I hope he's not bringing the sea to Winterfell!
