A Storm of Swords Entry 8

Well, a day's absense in memoriam for the day that Caryn threw the book. I shall not speak of the events that transpired any more. All that should be said has been said. Requiascat in Pace.
CB Note: :(
RK Note: SO SAD. But... valar morghulis. We discussed this via e-mail/gchat, so I suppose its all been said. But let me note my extreme DISAPPOINTMENT that LB this is apparently your LAST ASOS blog entry!!! Sigh :(

Anyway, the next chapter I dare speak of is Tyrion. Awk. dinner w/ Tyrion and Sansa. He should just freaking get the marriage annulled. JN--Think there was any jactitation of marriage here? Sansa goes to the godswood (maybe she'll be rescued afterall!) and Tyrion goes to Tywin's chamber where everyone is waiting. They have news from the Twins of the day that Caryn threw the book. Everyone is all rejoicing and stuff and Tyrion realizes this is what Tywin was all secretly plotting. Ass hole. Joffrey talks about how he wants everyone's heads and Tywin says he must forgive those people who bend their knee b/c it's the only way to be a King. Joffrey says some nasty stuff back to his grandfather about how Tywin was afraid of Aerys and then Tywin essentially sends him to bed without dinner. Joffrey is such a jackass. Tywin and Tyrion talk about how he needs to be taught a lesson. Apparently Roose has been named Warden of the North and is going to take Arya and marry her to his bastard. Ugh . I hope Arya finds needle and feeds Roose's manhood to the goats! Does this mean Arya isn't dead? I'm confused. Also how are they going to get her...I thought they didn't know where she is? Sigh.
CB Note: Tywin was behind is all!! What a royal D-BAG! He can go to hell, and take stupid Joff with him!!!!!!!!!! (I am too upset about the Red Wedding to note further on the topic)
RK Note: Of course Arya isn't dead!!! The Hound just smacked her on the back of her head with the flat of his axe to save her from running into the Red Wedding and gteting butched! Ugh Tywin plotting with that damn Frey, but it was ALL Robb's damn fault for marrying Jeyne Frey!!! That Joff dare talk back to Tyrion, someone needs to PUT HIM IN HIS PLACE!!!!!!!! Also how the F did they manage to skin Grey Wind without some ppl dying? Do you think Grey Wind just like dropped dead when Robb died? Are they that connected that one cannot live without the other?

To Davos. Melisandre and the ugly Queen are all happy about the news of Robb's death. Melisandre foretold it and the whole leach blood thing blahhhh. Now they are making the case again that Stannis should let them kill Robert's bastard in order to raise dragons. Davos convinces them that Joffrey is still alive and so the prophecy wasn't fulfilled and Stannis spares the bastard again. Davos has an awkward convo with Stannis where he keeps on challenging him. Stannis apparently saw a vision of a king with a flaming crown that burned him. Freaking Melisandre is gonna be the death of him! Davos goes to his reading lesson with Pylos (which is btw, sooo hillarious). He ends up reading a letter from the wall about the wildlings coming. He hadn't heard this before. Apparently Pylos had given it to the old hand who dismissed it.
CB Note: Everyone ignores the wall! When all the wildlings come down and attack them, i bet they'll wish they helped!
RK Note: Osha warned them, they're matching the wrong way!!!! Forget the wildlings, what if those Others come! They seem to be the DARK that is the opposite of R'Hllor's LIGHT that Melisandre is claiming is the REAL war... Its cute how Davos is learning to read with the kids!!!

Jon at the wall waiting for the wildlings to come. He is on a crutch and limping and is placed on the roof with a longbow. They wait all day and nothing happens. Then the wildlings come at night. Very dramatic scenes here of Jon limping and like shooting people down. The wildlings are apparently winning at some point with a lot of Night's Watch dead and then they all excitedly charge towards the gate, which is a trap. Jon and the others light the stairs on fire and it consumes all of the wildlings. The wall defends itself!!! Jon goes to see and finds Ygritte with an arrow in her chest dying. It isn't his arrow but he feels guilty. They have a touching conversation about the night in the grotto and he says she won't die. Her last words are "You know nothing, Jon Snow." How touching and sad :(.
CB Note: WHAT an exciting chapter, right?!?! The whole time I'm like, how are they going to make it? What are they gonna do?! It wasn't looking good. and then BAM. The wall defends itself. And I heart Jon Snow even more.
RK Note: I am SO glad the wall defends itself and SO glad the Nights Watch had such a good plan! Sad about Ygritte dying of course. It keeps looking sooooo bad for the Wall but then the Nights Watch has such good clever plans up their sleeves!!! YAY JON SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super long and exciting Bran chapter next. Bran Meera Jojen and Hodor are at Nightfort one of the abandoned towers on the wall. Jojen had dreamed that there was a gate here but it is barred. We learn that Bran has dreamed of the Night that Caryn threw the book and hasn't told anyone yet :(. Also apparently he was conscious of helping Jon with the wildlings. They make camp in the kitchens when Bran wakes up to a noise coming from steps in the well. He wakes up Meera who snares something coming out of the well. It is.....Sam and Gilly!! It makes me happy that different characters are coming together! Turns out Sam and Gilly were rescued by the guy who isn't a wight after all. They've named him coldhands. He told them that they would cross over this underground passage by this secret gate that only Night's Watch people can open and find someone. This someone is clearly Bran and did I not Nut that Coldhands was the Three Eyed Crow! NUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
Also, a few things here. Cute dialogue when Sam realizes Bran is Jon's brother and tells Summer he knows Ghost and Summer like licks Sam's hand. I only trust people who Pokey likes. Also when they are waiting for something to come out of the well, Bran is again able to go into Hodor's skin. He's gonna be such a talented warg!!!!
CB Note: Another GREAT chapter. This Jon/Bran duo of chapters is like the only reason I continued to read after the Night I Threw The Book. It made me smile again!!
RK Note: Also, is it being a warg to be able to go into Hodor, or being something else? I thought the term Warg was wolf-specific, but maybe not. I LOVED this chapter, I love when characters unite, I love how Sam realized it was Jon Snow's brother and met Summer and she licked his hand! So cute! I want a direwolf!!!

LB I AM SO SAD YOUR BLOGGING ENDED HERE!!!
