LOST April 29, 2009

After a LOST hiatus, we are BACK! I think i'd rather be rockbanding though!!! Did you guys here I am able to do 280 note streaks on Hard Drums???
CB Note: Rather rockband instead of LOST?? For shame!
RK Note: OMG I must get Dave to open his Rockband!!!!

1:00 - oooh i forgot, its a Faraday ep. im kinda excited now

2:00 - cb is glad we are getting desmond. i bet he lives. bill it later.
CB Note: Of course he lives! No one dares to mess with my Penny & Desmond! They're the heart and soul of the show! (I heart them)

3:00 - Eloise Hawking just admitted her son is Faraday! and its his fault desmond got shot!
CB Note: Duh about the sonage.
RK Note: Ditto CB duh to son.... And Justin, you knew this!! Anyway the reason this was not in blog records is because Justin did not BLOG the season premiere, but it was discussed via e-mail:

why is no one replying to my Lost chat?! i wish we blogged it. also, could that young girl on the island be faraday's mom? I still think that woman from last week's episode who was doing the experiment on the computer in that weird church looking lab place wearing the hooded cloak is also daniel faraday's mom (my nut from last week), but could the girl on the island be his mom before he was born, which is why she looked familiar to him? could faraday have been born on the island? could charles widmore be his dad? the girl on the island and widmore could have hooked up when they were Others, had Faraday...?

I was JUST going to reply that I thought she was faraday's mom too! But I was still reading your first email! :) I think it's a great guess. The girl who's sick in the present couldnt be the same girl cause she's young in the present. The girl from 1954 would be old in the present (around widmore's age, which would match up with faraday's mom)

Also in the episode where Richard Alpert visited Locke as a little kid, remember he showed Locke 3 things and asked him to pick one? Was that compass one of the things he asked Locke to pick?

Also I am very concerned that Penny and Desmond are going to LA to find Faraday's mom, who I think is the woman who was with Benjamin Linus 2 episodes ago like i discussed above in the lab wearing the hood, and if they find her and she's with Ben, Ben will know where Penny is, and he told Charles Widmore he wants to kill his daughter the way Widmore's men killed HIS daughter, meaning Ben could try to kill Penny when they get to LA!!!

Yes, the compass was one of the objects the richard showed him. He asked locke to pick what objects already belonged to him and that compass was one of the things he picked.

True! I am very concerned about ben trying to kill penny and if he succeeds i will be extremely upset with lost cause i think that the relationship between desmond and penny is such an important thing in this show and is by far the relationship i root for, over kate and her many men!

rachel was throwing out one awesome theory after another. i was impressed. i LOVE the idea of that you g girl being daniels mom. she was getting ALOT of screentime and i was kinda like "why does this random girl with a gun have so much screentime this ep"

coma girl i tihnk is just some gf that daniel tried time traveling on. and what happened ot her is like caryn said to those othe rpeople, and now apparently to charlotte as well.

AMAZINg nut on that compass from that episode. makes it look so AWESOME in retrospect.

as to time travel paradoxes, like with heroes , they are hard ot tihnk about logically. i will expound on hte 2 coherent time travel theories a show could use at our next game or lost tv nite.

it woudl be kinda awesome if daniel was charles widmores son. im inclined to not think so, but its only been 1 ep, so we dont know any relationships yet between 1950s others. lets just reiterate how AMAZING it is that that was yougn charles widmore, former other. just so cool. shaping up to be an awesome season. this ep was better than the first ep maybe, and def one of hte top eps all time.

and, finally, bc this ep was so amazing, next week i will resume...

LOST NUT BLOGGING!!!!!!!!!
Many nuts were had, and then Justin promptly forgot them!

4:00 - HOW JACK HOW! TELL THE SCIENTIST!

5:00 - ohnoes! how do they not belong there? dont they always have to have been there b/c thats the way LOST time travel works?! or did it get changed by Desmond impacted it? im confused. also, didnt faraday send desmond to his mom for some reason to begin with?

6:00 - ooh, Star Trek preview. cb: "what's going on on Hoth?"

7:00 - oh little faraday, you CAN make time! youre a time traveler!!! but imo you should play the drums!

8:00 - what were the circumstances many eps ago when we saw faraday in a dharma outfit in the orchid? i dont remember what we were watching. only that it was this... i forget the context of the ep tho.
CB Note: This is where I had to explain to Justin the entire beginning of the first ep of the season where we see Chang go to the Orchid station to yell at that guy about the drilling and then he passes a guy and it's revealled to be Faraday. Also, I just went to look back in the blog to post the nuts that I believe both Rachel and I had regarding how that could have happened, and that post is nowhere to be found! I think Justin deleted it to deprive us of our nuts!
RK Note: OMG JN, that was the whole thing in the premiere!! And Caryn and I both absolutely discussed many a theory about how that could have happened and I correctly nutted Dan was in 1977 posing as a member of the Dharma initiative! I allude to it in this post: http://nashsnuts.blogspot.com/2009/02/lost-feb-18-2009.html

9:00 - oh i love it. Faraday stoned up and actually answered "im from the future". and i suppose we are about to learn about the first big event at the swan. please answer my questoin in the last entry tho girls.
CB Note: No, instead I think we need to berate Justin for not paying enough attention to the best show on TV.
RK Note: Justin should have to reread his own blogs as homework before Lost episodes

10:00 - omglol. "dr chang... Miles is your son"
CB Note: So awesome. Can't believe Miles wussed out of confirming.
RK Note: Me too! Miles totally should have confirmed!!!

11:00 - whats dr chang supposed to do! obvi faraday is worried that jack is gonna mess it up i bet dr chang is gonna get killed perhaps... explaining how hes out of miles life.
RK Note: Except Mommy Chang thinks he abandoned her and baby Miles... Hmmmm...

12:00 - caryn nutted that this chick at faraday's graduation was the time travel girl that got mucked up.

13:00 - that widmore grant surprised eloise. why?
CB Note: Cause she didn't know he'd do that? Nut?

14:00 - lol at hurley's "wishy washy"

15:00 - i bet its faraday at the door interrupting the tem meeting.

16:00 - nut.
RK Note: Oy.

17:00 - omg jackin' it up even further. now he wants to go see the hostiles!

18:00 - and eloise is a hostile!!! and they need to find her! aaaaaaaaaaaaaa. is she gonna be that girl from the 1950s ep we thought she would be?
CB Note: Duh she's a hostile. I nutted that back in 1954. The episode is also inconspicuously missing for JN's blog.
RK Note: SERIOUSLY, Justin? Please refer to e-mails from January, above.

20:00 - dude, i dont even remember this "faraday crying at the plane crash" scene except now that im seeing it again i sorta remember it happening. and hes visited by widmoooooooooooooooore. omg the condition affects his memory? faraday is sick? it seems like hes sick in the future with memory trouble! htf did he get ok enough to get sent to the island! im so lost. and cb is being mean to me too bc i cant remember stuff.
CB Note: Yes this is when I got fed up that J can't remember a single thing from this show. The whole fun is the remembering!!!! I bet you remember every stupid quest you've done in WOW, but not this stuff?!?! This is when I have to explain to J that yes, we saw the beginning part of the Faraday crying scene before last season when we got our first glimpse into the backstories of the 4 freighter peeps. Then I have to explain to him that Faraday was a scientist at Oxford and did time travel experiments on rats and people (himself and his assistant Theresa) who became "unstuck" and is now bedridden. Obviously whatever he tested on himself cause memory loss, and we (yet not J) did know that he had memory problems since we saw Charlotte playing a memory game with Daniel on the island last season. Please hate on JN now.
RK Note: LOL at CB's exasperation. I sympathize. I have hated on JN so much this blog though I'm starting to feel bad about it.

21:00 - yea, whys this plane crash bothering faraday so much! i KNEW it was widmore that set up the fake, not ben. credit pls.
CB Note: No credit for something we all guessed (and was pretty much proven last ep by Miles mindreading that dead guy who worked for Widmore)

22:00 - i dont see why faraday would be sad. this faraday hasnt met any of the people yet...
CB Note: Maybe he knows deep in his subconscious.

23:00 - was faraday losing his memory every day when he first came to island. oooh, widmore just said the island woudl heal him, locke style.
CB Note: Yes, just like it heals EVERYONE.

24:00 - faraday: "why would you help me?" cb: "luke, i am your father."
RK Note: LOL, and points for Star Wars references.

25:00 - hey, faraday just said it was that girl we thought from the 50s!
RK Note: GROAN at Justin's thinking this is still a nut

26:00 - cb totally just nutted faraday making a "dont come back to the island" charlotte pitstop.

27:00 - faradays totes trying to change things. that cant work. whys chang sending poeple off the island?

28:00 - cb's "lolling" over that "beginner" line.
CB Note: You know, when Kate's handing out the guns. lol.

29:00 - so, am i the only one who immediately thought "i cant belive nobody shot those giant drums of fuel" immediately, and then "finally" when jack got aroudn to.

30:00 - rusedski is a dbag btw. cant wait ot see him get killed.
CB Note: We discussed in a prior blog how he's the guy who ends up pushing the buttons with a partner prior to Desmond's arrival. And he killed himself.

31:00 - things are NOT looking good for jawyer.
RK Note: LOL to jawyer as opposed to sawliet

32:00 - a few things on this faraday plan. first, i believe it was totally nutted by somebody that this buried hydrogen bomb from the 50s woudl totally find later usage. second, im nto sure how i feel about this "hey i can change the past" stuff now...
RK Note: Yes I believe this was nutted by somebody. I think I nutted that Jughead (the bomb) is buried beneath the shadow of the statute, and thus is what lies beneath the shadow of the statute. Not sure if that is right, but I like Faraday's insane plan to detonate a hydrogen bomb to somehow eradicate the electromagnetic forces. I'm no physicist, but... Sounds to me like a recipe for two explosions, or just a super big explosion.

33:00 - re my second question, cb quite legitamtely nuts that faraday's plan will fail, thereby preserving the past. it better, as far as im concerned. im not sure how all this "people are variables" stuff would makes sense anyway!
RK Note: I do NOT like this whole changing of the past thing, because if you can change the past, it could be like the entire show of Lost never happened, and an alternate reality will exist where dead people can be alive and live people can be dead, and Jack, Kate, etc, might never be on the island at all, and are they just going to VANISH to accomodate this alternate reality, and then time and the past would be in constant flux and could change over and over and over again ALL the time and it just would make no sense and make this show as awful as Heroes. I'm going to nut that they TRY to change the past, but it fails every time, and they just wind up going what fate destined them to do all along...

34:00 - "for the first time in a long time, i dont know whats going to happen next". oh eloise.
RK Note: Perhaps because she was only visited in the past with knowledge leading up to the Lost-day present, aka, what Jack and Kate etc know up to 2007 (the present in Lost time) and tell her when they hang out with her in 1977 is all she knows... After that, the future is unknown to her.

35:00 - HES WIDMORES SON TOO!! SLAP!
CB Note: Second DUH. Nut from way back!
RK Note: Refer to e-mails from JANUARY. Seriously, nutted from three months ago.

36:00 - also.. she sent him back "knowing full well"... knowing WHAT full well?!?!

37:00 - well, i guess we know WHAT she knew full well. however, as for faraday dying, i do NOT like it. aside from him being a great char, i want him aroud nto explain stuff!!!
CB Note: I'm also piiiiiiiiiissed about this development. I really liked Faraday. He was a really interesting character. So the question is...why did Eloise send him back?! She knew she had killed him, so she knew she had to send him? Cause the past has to have happened like it did a la Faraday? Whatever it is, it sucks.
RK Note: Maybe he's not dead? Maybe Richard Alpert can take him to that Temple where they took Ben after Ben was shot and steal his innocence and heal him into an Other just like Mommy and Daddy? If he's dead, SADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD! And what a mean bad Mommy knowing his whole life she's going to shoot him dead and then forcing him to abandon his dreams of being a pianist and forcing him onto the path of being a scientist who must go to the island and DIE. Worse mom than Sun!

Re next week: how convenient that jack can apparently read the journal instructions!

A Storm of Swords Entry 8

Well, a day's absense in memoriam for the day that Caryn threw the book. I shall not speak of the events that transpired any more. All that should be said has been said. Requiascat in Pace.
CB Note: :(
RK Note: SO SAD. But... valar morghulis. We discussed this via e-mail/gchat, so I suppose its all been said. But let me note my extreme DISAPPOINTMENT that LB this is apparently your LAST ASOS blog entry!!! Sigh :(

Anyway, the next chapter I dare speak of is Tyrion. Awk. dinner w/ Tyrion and Sansa. He should just freaking get the marriage annulled. JN--Think there was any jactitation of marriage here? Sansa goes to the godswood (maybe she'll be rescued afterall!) and Tyrion goes to Tywin's chamber where everyone is waiting. They have news from the Twins of the day that Caryn threw the book. Everyone is all rejoicing and stuff and Tyrion realizes this is what Tywin was all secretly plotting. Ass hole. Joffrey talks about how he wants everyone's heads and Tywin says he must forgive those people who bend their knee b/c it's the only way to be a King. Joffrey says some nasty stuff back to his grandfather about how Tywin was afraid of Aerys and then Tywin essentially sends him to bed without dinner. Joffrey is such a jackass. Tywin and Tyrion talk about how he needs to be taught a lesson. Apparently Roose has been named Warden of the North and is going to take Arya and marry her to his bastard. Ugh . I hope Arya finds needle and feeds Roose's manhood to the goats! Does this mean Arya isn't dead? I'm confused. Also how are they going to get her...I thought they didn't know where she is? Sigh.
CB Note: Tywin was behind is all!! What a royal D-BAG! He can go to hell, and take stupid Joff with him!!!!!!!!!! (I am too upset about the Red Wedding to note further on the topic)
RK Note: Of course Arya isn't dead!!! The Hound just smacked her on the back of her head with the flat of his axe to save her from running into the Red Wedding and gteting butched! Ugh Tywin plotting with that damn Frey, but it was ALL Robb's damn fault for marrying Jeyne Frey!!! That Joff dare talk back to Tyrion, someone needs to PUT HIM IN HIS PLACE!!!!!!!! Also how the F did they manage to skin Grey Wind without some ppl dying? Do you think Grey Wind just like dropped dead when Robb died? Are they that connected that one cannot live without the other?

To Davos. Melisandre and the ugly Queen are all happy about the news of Robb's death. Melisandre foretold it and the whole leach blood thing blahhhh. Now they are making the case again that Stannis should let them kill Robert's bastard in order to raise dragons. Davos convinces them that Joffrey is still alive and so the prophecy wasn't fulfilled and Stannis spares the bastard again. Davos has an awkward convo with Stannis where he keeps on challenging him. Stannis apparently saw a vision of a king with a flaming crown that burned him. Freaking Melisandre is gonna be the death of him! Davos goes to his reading lesson with Pylos (which is btw, sooo hillarious). He ends up reading a letter from the wall about the wildlings coming. He hadn't heard this before. Apparently Pylos had given it to the old hand who dismissed it.
CB Note: Everyone ignores the wall! When all the wildlings come down and attack them, i bet they'll wish they helped!
RK Note: Osha warned them, they're matching the wrong way!!!! Forget the wildlings, what if those Others come! They seem to be the DARK that is the opposite of R'Hllor's LIGHT that Melisandre is claiming is the REAL war... Its cute how Davos is learning to read with the kids!!!

Jon at the wall waiting for the wildlings to come. He is on a crutch and limping and is placed on the roof with a longbow. They wait all day and nothing happens. Then the wildlings come at night. Very dramatic scenes here of Jon limping and like shooting people down. The wildlings are apparently winning at some point with a lot of Night's Watch dead and then they all excitedly charge towards the gate, which is a trap. Jon and the others light the stairs on fire and it consumes all of the wildlings. The wall defends itself!!! Jon goes to see and finds Ygritte with an arrow in her chest dying. It isn't his arrow but he feels guilty. They have a touching conversation about the night in the grotto and he says she won't die. Her last words are "You know nothing, Jon Snow." How touching and sad :(.
CB Note: WHAT an exciting chapter, right?!?! The whole time I'm like, how are they going to make it? What are they gonna do?! It wasn't looking good. and then BAM. The wall defends itself. And I heart Jon Snow even more.
RK Note: I am SO glad the wall defends itself and SO glad the Nights Watch had such a good plan! Sad about Ygritte dying of course. It keeps looking sooooo bad for the Wall but then the Nights Watch has such good clever plans up their sleeves!!! YAY JON SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super long and exciting Bran chapter next. Bran Meera Jojen and Hodor are at Nightfort one of the abandoned towers on the wall. Jojen had dreamed that there was a gate here but it is barred. We learn that Bran has dreamed of the Night that Caryn threw the book and hasn't told anyone yet :(. Also apparently he was conscious of helping Jon with the wildlings. They make camp in the kitchens when Bran wakes up to a noise coming from steps in the well. He wakes up Meera who snares something coming out of the well. It is.....Sam and Gilly!! It makes me happy that different characters are coming together! Turns out Sam and Gilly were rescued by the guy who isn't a wight after all. They've named him coldhands. He told them that they would cross over this underground passage by this secret gate that only Night's Watch people can open and find someone. This someone is clearly Bran and did I not Nut that Coldhands was the Three Eyed Crow! NUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
Also, a few things here. Cute dialogue when Sam realizes Bran is Jon's brother and tells Summer he knows Ghost and Summer like licks Sam's hand. I only trust people who Pokey likes. Also when they are waiting for something to come out of the well, Bran is again able to go into Hodor's skin. He's gonna be such a talented warg!!!!
CB Note: Another GREAT chapter. This Jon/Bran duo of chapters is like the only reason I continued to read after the Night I Threw The Book. It made me smile again!!
RK Note: Also, is it being a warg to be able to go into Hodor, or being something else? I thought the term Warg was wolf-specific, but maybe not. I LOVED this chapter, I love when characters unite, I love how Sam realized it was Jon Snow's brother and met Summer and she licked his hand! So cute! I want a direwolf!!!

LB I AM SO SAD YOUR BLOGGING ENDED HERE!!!

A Storm of Swords Entry 7

Begin with Jon riding towards the wall. Poor guy is badly injured and feverish and delirious. He gets to the Kings Road and finally reaches Mole Town where he can get a fresh horse. When he gets to the Shadow Tower, they admit him but apparently had word that he had gone over to Mance Rayder b/c someone had spied him in the camps. There have been wildlings climbing over the walls but Jon tells them this is a distraction, the real threat is coming from the Gift where people already are. They go to see Maester Aemon who tells him about all the news, including that Bran and Rickon are "dead." Jon seems to be unsure if Bran is already dead because he saw summer and he asks if Bran could have gone on living in Summer's body. I think Maester Aemon thinks he's just delirious though. They start mending his leg, which seems mighty painful. Jon speaks to some of his old friends who tell him what had happened at Crasters. Apparently about 12 or so made it out. They tell him about Sam killing the Other with the dragon glass but say they left him there muttering with Mormont. Jon is distraught but at least he got them some warning!
CB Note: Way to go Jon!! I was so happy he made it back!! Not much else to say for this chapter.
JN Note: smart by jon asking about bran and summer. hes alive jon, you knwo it in your heart! as for what to do about the wildlings, its a good thing jon got back in tiem to warn them!
RK Note: I can't believe Jon made it back to the Wall! I am so USED to Arya journeying far and wide and never being able to get to Riverrun that I've come to not actually expect anyone to get to where they want to go, especially considering how far Jon has come! But he made it back to the Wall! AMAZING, that Jon Snow!!!

Catelyn and Robb have finally reached the Freys. As they are entering Grey wind like attacks one of the Frey's (Pimply Peter or something lol) and Robb almost can't call him off. They go in to talk to old man Frey who is, as usual, gross and old and annoying. Robb apologizes to him and he like parades his daughters and such around being like look what you missed. But overall it went slightly better than they thought. Which makes me suspicious. He's up to something. Edmure meets Roslin who turns out to be kinda cute. Catelyn is suspicious though so when she leaves the great hall she questions the Maester who assures her that nothing is wrong with her reproductively-speaking. Oh Catelyn, always so practical! Roose Bolton shows up informing them that they had lost a battle to the mountain. Ugh. He also has a piece of Theon's skin, which he says his bastard took. He claims that Theon is still alive and that they should ransom him b/c he is successor to the throne.
CB Note: I never like it when our Starks are separated from their wolves! I'd keep Patches by my side no matter what. You didnt mention also, Catelyn remembers to ask for food when they first get to the Twins, so that they'd be protected by Guest Right. She IS practical, isn't she? Also, if you were Frey, why would you marry Edmure to a pretty daughter?
JN Note: when i go to long island, i bring Hamlet with me so we can always be together! also, eww at all this flaying of skins. As for Petyr Pimple, this one week cb had a pimple, so i kept calling it petyr pimple. it was very cute :)
RK Note: Oh noes, I was hoping Theon was DEAD DEAD DEAD as a doornail! I was VERY suspicious of the Freys being up to something when Roslin was pretty and the rooms they were given were nice. It is NEVER GOOD when Grey Wind is not in the hall with Robb!!! JN you are cute when you give CB's pimples affectionate names.

Arya and the Hound are arriving at the Twins. They get by a guard b/c the Hound is dressed as a farmer who is bringing some pork for the wedding. The wedding has already occurred and they're in the celebration (or so they can here). They are sent to some tent to give the food to some tent but they head towards the castle. Not much happening here.
CB Note: I was so happy at this chapter! Arya's so close!!! She's gonna get to see Catelyn!!
JN Note: does this mean's LB's much disputed pity nut on Houdn helping arya is going to come true?
RK Note: I was sooooooooooooooooooooooo excited and ready for an Arya/Catelyn/Robb reunion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so pissed 'cause I had to stop in the middle of this chapter! Catelyn is watching as a lot of people get majorly drunk and stuff at the wedding. She seems somewhat nervous something is gonna happen. The music is terrible. They won't let Grey Wind into the wedding! Robb has danced with all of the Freys as he promised. And Roose goes to the privy...and that's all I got to...Sigh...
CB Note: Booooooo to not finishing your chapter! Stupid trains, stupid work! Can't we just read all day instead??
JN Note: even if we couldnt read all day, coudl we wow all day? thatd be good too. as for the wedding, who doesnt get drunk at weddings?! altho i will say, it sorta sucks when the badn plays bad music. more Disturbia and 80s pls! less 60s! screw the old people!
RK Note: I wish we could read all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Catelyn has a sense of foreboding at this wedding for sure.... And that band sure is terrible, something sure is fishy about that... Its never a good sign when the "Winds of Castamere" begin to play and its not a Lannister wedding...

A Storm of Swords Entry 6

More character-by-character goodness. As I will point out in the Arya section, I believe I must be given credit for a semi-G-chat nut. CB can witness!

Sam: The remaining few Night's Watchmen have reached Crasters again. Craster has taken them in grudgingly and is feeding them but not enough. There are grumblings by some of the men that he has a hidden cache of food. They can hear that girl giving birth, the one who tried to get Jon to take her with. Sam talks to Mormont who is wondering why they didn't know about the Dragonglass being what kills the Others. He said that they need to go find more. The girl, whose name I now see is Gilly (which reminds me of Harry Potter 4, where he has to breath under water and takes Gilly weed) does in fact have a boy. They go to have a feast and at some point, one of the men starts complaining that Craster is holding out on them. There is an argument and when Craster goes at them the Night's watch dude kills him! Mormont is enraged! This is now way for a guest to act. Then all hell breaks loose and dude stabs Mormont. NOOooooo. The Old Bear is dying in Sam's lap. He tells Sam he must go back to the wall and warn them. Then a couple of the older wives come and tell Sam he must go and take Gilly with him with the child. The Others come and take the newborn boys. They get them some supplies and horses and let them on the way.
CB Note: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! This chapter was CRAAAAAAAaZY! Like, Lysa-Crazy! I couldn't believe what I was reading! So killed Mormont!! The Old Bear!!!!! Say it ain't so! Lol at the Gilly weed. Doesn't Mormont leave a dying wish for Sam to tell Jorah that he's sorry/he forgives him/he wants him to join the Watch or something like that? Anyway, I really wanted to smack those ungrateful dudes who started the fight.
JN Note: oh poor Old Bear! this was pretty sad. what will the Nights Watch do without their Bear! they are leaderless. frankly, if i didnt have my bear, id be lost :( I cant believe those dummies violated Guest Right! tyrion sure was right when he told jon in book 1 that the nights watch was lots of thieves rapists and murderers. GRR!
RK Note: I was SO SAD when Commander Mormont was murdered, and by his own men!! Correct about his dying wish for Jorah!! If he only KNEW what Jorah's been up to in exile! NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE A FIG FOR GUEST RIGHT LATELY, ITS AWFUL!!! Its a shame the Nights Watch is made up mainly of such poor stock.

Sam and Gilly travel down South towards the wall. They have two horses but one dies so Sam has to walk. They reach a village and get ready to stay for the night. They fall asleep and wake up with the fire out and someone at the door. It's Small Paul...as a wight!!! Noooo. Sam tells Gilly to take the horse out. He lunges at Small Paul with the dragon glass dagger but it shatters!!!! (Huh? So I guess Wights are different than Others?) Sam somehow gets to a burning piece of wood as Paul is about to strangle him and sets him on fire! yayyyy. He goes outside though and Gilly is surrounded by Wights. Oh no!!!! But then, a huge amount of crows start coming at the wights and peckign at them. There is this mysterious dude all in black who has rescued them. Woohooo! They are excited but then Sam sees the dude's hands and it is all black. Ruh roh.... (PS: Is this the three eyed crow Bran is looking for??)
CB Note: Ok so, I was SO FRICKIN SCARED during this chapter!!! I seriously thought it was like the scariest chapter ever, reading about the sight of all the wights surrounding them, I was like totally freaked out. And per our gchat discussion, we will not be commenting on your PS question lol.
JN Note: obviously, if GRRM wanted you to know who this big dude with the cold black hands who saved them was, he woulda told you. as for what we'll do, youll have ot wait! as for Others and Wights, i strongly suggest you look at recent notes i made to either ASOS or rk's AGOT blogging, where i describe the difference. sicne you dont know it, it is apparent that you are SKIPPING the extensive noting that goes on when rk finalls reads her chapters. SHAME ON YOU!
CB Note: Um, actually baby, it was one of LB's blogs where we had a whole discussion of Wight vs Other....sooooo kinda looks like YOU are the one who isn't paying close enough attention...
RK Note: I think the glass shattered against Small Paul's chainmail-- it appears Wights are clad in whatever they died in. LOL to the JN/CB exchange and discussing of my RK noting. My first guess when someone rescued them was that it was Benjen Stark and he's been somehow living out there in the cold and has become like half-dead with black frostbitten hands but he's still out there as a protector. But from further reading it seems its the 3-eyed crow. Unless Benjen Stark IS also the 3-eyed crow!

Bran: Speaking of Bran, he Meera and Jojen have lead him to the gift and they reach this village with a castle surrounded by water. Bran remembers from one of Old Nan's stories that there is a hidden causeway under the water so they walk through and get to the tower. They go up to the top and settle in for the night b/c a storm is coming. As the storm is starting they see a solitary rider, then the lightning starts and Hodor is freaaaaaaaaked out and screaming HODOR HODOR!! All of a sudden Jojen sees a whole bunch of people coming into the village and they try and shut Hodor up. Interesting moment when Bran screams HODORR STOPP!!! and is able to become Hodor for a second before he calms down. Bran is gonna be a talented Warg!!! He then senses Summer who can "smell fear."
JN Note: If bran could warg into hodor, he could be a strong powerful knight!!! any guesses on who is in that village? i bet its jon....
RK Note: AWESOMENESS on Bran being able to be Hodor. If he can perfect this, he'll be able to WALK, through other people!!!! But what happens to Hodor when Bran is controlling Hodor, I'd like to know.

Jon: Turns out the people in the village that Bran saw were the wildlings that Jon is traveling with. Jon is still Ygritting his teeth and playing along with all the Wildling stuff. But he's trying to figure a way out of there. When they get to a village head wildling dude calls Jon and says they've found this old man (the man that Bran saw). To prove his loyalty Jon must kill the guy. Jon cannot make himself do it b/c the guy is old and innocent. Ygritte is angry and goes up and kills the man and says something like You know nothing Jon Snow. As she does so a wolf comes and attacks the wildlings. Jon thinks it's Ghost but in fact it's Summer! Jon takes the opportunity with all the confusion to take a horse and ride away. After he escapes enough he stops and notices he has an arrow in his leg which he grotesquely pulls out. He turns to go warn the Night's Watch.
CB Note: Gotta do the above two in one note. AHHHHHHHHH!!! How awesome were these two chapters?!?! I love how it starts from Bran's POV and continues on through Jon's. Also, I'm pretty sure I nutted that the group of people were the group of Wildlings with Jon back in Bran's chapter. Just to toot my own hown a bit. ;) YAY SUMMER! She saved Jon!!!! He finally got away!!!! SO HAPPYYYYY!!!
JN Note: nut for me!! great b2b chapters imo. and cb did nut that. i was impressed at the time. love how bran saved jon! and now jon can go warn the Wall! if anybody made it back, that is :(
CB Note: *Eyeroll* at your "nut"
RK Note: big LOL to the Ygritting his teeth pun. This was AMAZING and its so nice that through Summer Bran realized Jon was there and saw him!!! I was hoping for a reunion though, there was that brief moment when Jon was with Ygritte and told her about the causeway and they were contemplating going to the tower, and I was so hopeful for a Jon/Bran reunion! Alas...

Davos: He is called from the cell by one of the Queen's relatives (name?) He's freaked out 'cause he thinks that Melisandre has convinced Stannis to burn him. Turns out Stannis finally wants to see him. They talk about what to do with the former hand. Stannis says they must kill him b/c the punishment for treason is death. Davos makes a pointed (and rather reckless) remark about how Stannis betrayed Aerys, the former king. Stannis talks about how he had to choose between honor and family. He thinks Jaime should have been sent to the wall for killing Aerys as Ned had suggested. Queen's relative wants to be the King's hand and has an idea to go take this one island with this old dude who had fought for Stannis at King's Landing but knelt to Joffrey after they lost. Davos tells Stannis that he thinks this is a terrible idea and cowardly. *Audible gasp* Moment of tension. What is gonna happen!?! Turns out Stannis wants to name Davos his hand. Prolly the first good decision Stannis has made. Davos is not a yes man like the rest of them, willing to switch gods and everything just cause Stannis wants them to. Turns out, btw, that now Stannis is starting to see visions in the flames. Methinks that staring into the fire a little too long can make one delirious...
CB Note: Ser Axell is the one that comes for Davos and wants to be the hand. Yay for Hand Davos! Methinks that looking into the flames may be like looking at the clouds. Look hard enough and shapes begin to form! However, one can't doubt that Melisandra HAS seemed to seen things that have happened in her flames. So who knows!! In this very chapter, we learn that Melisandre showed Stannis the fight at the fist in the flames. So...shrug! Also at the end of this chapter, Melisandre gives Stannis a leech with all the other king's blood - Robb, Joff, and Balon Greyjoy. How the heck did she get those anyway?!?! He won't let her kill Edric to get the "blood of the king" so they're using the blood of the current kings instead. Wonder what will happen!
JN Note: it sure is the first good decision stannis has made. davos is no toady like mm. as for this leech talk, im pretty sure that it doesnt actually have those ppls blood. i think she was just cursing them, and wanting to use edric's blood to do it. good cloud comparison too.
CB Note: Ohhhh. So it was Edric's leeched blood, but he just said each of the kings names while throwing them into the fire. I remember now.

Tyrion: Was not a fan of this chapter to be honest. It was a bit slow. Tyrion rides out to meet the representatives from Dorne who have come for Joffrey's wedding. Something is immediately wrong because the lord of Dorne has sent his son who is a jackassssss (Oberyn or whatever.) Oberyn is likely to cause problems and Tyrion wonders if he was meant to cause such conflict. Plus the Tyrells hateee the Martells so this is gonna be a problem. They get into this verbal sparring thing and Oberyn tells about how he visited Castlerly Rock after Tyrion was born. He had expected to see this huge monster with a tail and deformities but it wasn't all that bad. Cersei was horrible even back then and horrible image where she takes baby Tyrion's penis and twists it around until he cries. (Um, omg, what?!) Oberyn talks about how he wants to kill the mountain. Tyrion essentially tells him to fuck off and then rides away. Oh also we learn that there is now a tax on whoring. Tyrion is reallllly doing everything to make himself unpopular...
CB Notes: True, this isn't a very exciting chapter. But I thought Oberyn was a fun guy to read. Also, he is Prince Doran's brother, not son. Their sister Elia was married to Prince Rhaegar and was murdered along with her children during the whole throne takeover.
JN Note: and, as we all know, the one who did the murdering was Ser Gregor the Mountain. But who ordered the code red??? anyway, i enjoyed this chapter, as Oberyn is quite the character, plus that old story about the visit to casterly rock was good. in the old war, the Martells and Dorne fought with the Targaryens bc Elia was married to Rhaegar. and that tax on whoring wasnt tyrions idea i believe, but he just gets blamed again. whats it called again? oh yea, the dwarf's penny. reread my notes to a blog or 2 ago fora chuckle. :)
RK Note: Tywin obviously ordered the Code Red, but maybe Tyrion thinks Oberyn just can't handle the truth! Maybe he was an early riser and liked to pack in the morning. Maybe he didn't have any friends. I'm an educated man, but I'm afraid I can't speak intelligently about the travel habits of one Private Santiago. Are these really the questions I was called here to answer? Phone calls and foot lockers? Please tell me that you have something more! Anyway, I digress... I think this Oberyn might not be so bad... I am aligned with his desire to kill Ser Gregor, that is for SURE!!! And I'm still pretty pissed about the killing of Princess Elia and Rhaenarys and the little infant babe, myself!

Jaime: Goes to the bathhouse to clean up in preparation for his meeting with Roose. Awkwardness ensues when he notices Brienne and goes to sit with her and she's all bashful and covers up. We learn huge news here. Turns out that Aerys was going to burn King's Landing before Robert got there and this is why Jaime killed him! He never told anyone 'cause the Kingsgaurd are sworn to keep the King's secrets. (Umm, really Jaime, at that point you've killed the King you were sworn to protect and you care about keeping his stupid secret.) They go to see Roose. Roose doesn't want to be implicated in Vargo's folly of cutting off his hand so he is going to send Jaime back to King's Landing. Brienne he is giving to Vargo. Eek.
CB Note: Another great chapter!! Some more weird sexual tension between Brienne and Jaime right?? Taking a bath together all naked lol. Anyway, I liked that Jaime told Brienne the whole story. And obviously, awesome stuff to learn. I also believe in this chapter Roose mentions something about Arya...do you recall? And damn that Roose, not wanting to "deprive Vargo of both his prizes." Oh noes!!!
JN Note: interesting stuff! that mad king aerys deserved to be Kingslayed! we knew he was nutso from earlier stories as well, including Jaime's to Catelyn of how he killed Neds brother and dad. brienne is in trouble if she doesnt get some sapphireth athap!
RK Note: Aw the bathhouse scene! Roose is so complicated, sometimes he does good things but he is also a cold DOUCHE bastard, and he shows it at times like when he gives Brienne back to Vargo. He is cold and has no honor. Much like his bastard son, who he's not even very attached to. I kind of wanted Jaime and Brienne to hook up in the bath btw.

Jaime is traveling down to King's landing with the ex-Maester dude who is hoping that by helping Jaime, Tywin will get him his chain back. (Never hope for help from a Lannister!) Jaime has a dream where he is in this cave where he faces the ghosts of people he killed. Brienne is there and helps him. Jaime wakes up and insists on going back for Brienne. When they get back to Harrenhaal she is in a bear pit unarmored (b/c she had bit off Vargo's ear lol). Jaime offers to pay her ransom her but Vargo says no. Then he jumps into the pit to help her. Fat load of good this does with one hand. Finally one of Roose's men shoots down the bear with an arrow and they take Brienne with. Jaime comes off in this two chapters seeming almost...I dunno...noble! Odd.
CB Note: Yay! I get to beat J at what he so desperately wants to write...A Bear! A Bear! All black and brown and covered with hair! The bear, the bear, and the maiden fair. Moving right along. Great dream right??? So crazy!! And then Jaime goes back to save Brienne from the Big Bad Bear! That Jaime is full of surprises...
JN Note: as i noted earlier, i believe that these were the chapters when cb finally stopped hating jaime. remember tho, he did throw bran off that ledge. altho he did it for love. of his sister. what morally difficult questions! as for cb stealing my thunder, i always knew brienne was A MAIDEN FAIR! as for jaime's plan to save her, he knew roose's men would have to kill the bear so he didnt get killed, bc tywin would NOT have liked that.
RK Note: Brienne is the Maiden Fair in the song with the bear?! Really? All this was foreshadowing to the bear pit? But who was the song written ABOUT? I was horrified by poor Brienne in the bear pit with only a tourney sword, and Jaime was SO noble and chivalrous to go back for her and save her!! So GALLANT!

Dany: She is with her unsullied at this other slavers city. She has lifted the whole can't have names for more than a day thing and has named one of the Unsullied as captain and he is pretty good apparently. The people from the other city (name?) are lining up for battle. They consist of various groups including this one group of Sellswords (The Second Brothers) and the Stormcrows. Dany talks with the different groups proposing to come to her side. The Stormcrows have three leaders who refuse. The Second Brothers dude just wants to do her and she gives him a lot of wine. Then one other dude comes and tries to give her a bribe to not attack; she offers that if he releases all of the slaves of the city and let her in the gate she will not attack. She gives him until the next morning to decide. Trixxxxy Dany decides that she is going to attack that night while the one dude is deciding and the other dude is too drunk to fight. While they are getting ready one of the Stormcrow dudes who has like blue hair and stuff comes and says he killed the other leaders and wants to be on her side. She takes his oath and he agrees to lead his men on her side. Jorah is not happy with this and Dany yells at him about how he can't be the only one she trusts. Awwkwardddddddd.. While waiting for the battle to end she sits with that old squire who tells her of her brother and how he was born depressed and always super sad. Jorah comes back announcing victory. Dany goes to the city and all the freed slaves are running around calling her Mother. Apparently this was one of the visions in the Undying place. (Sorry, I don't remember... LOL).
CB Note: The city Dany is at is Yunkai. I love these chapters with Dany. She's so kickass. Total OUCH for Jorah when she tells him that she doesnt love him and he's not going to be the only man in her life. The old squire who talks to Dany about her bro is Arstan. And yup, the vision from the House of the Undying was of "ten thousand slaves reaching out to touch her and crying "mother" as she rides past."
JN Note: this was a pretty innocuous vision coming true, young squirrel. make some effort for getting the big ones! as for this Arstan, i believe this isnt the first time hes told dany about her fam. which is nice, bc she only ever knew that tool viserys.
RK Note: I love the Dany chapter, she is SO badass, and its so noble how she wants to free all the slaves! She is so CLEVER, this one is trixxier than Tyrion lately!!!!

Catelyn: Sad funeral of her father. Edmure misses the raft with the flaming arrows three times before Brynden doe sit for him (Edmure is kinda loser...) Attends an audience b/w Robb and some of the Freys. They are mighty pissed about Robb marrying someone else but have agreed that Edmure will marry his granddaughter (name?). Edmure is not happy b/c he doesn't know her but they convince him to accept to make up for his folly on Trident.
CB Note: Who felt totes awkward as Edmure kept missing the boat. Ouch. The deal is that Edmure is betrothed to Roslin Frey, Walder Frey's youngest daughter (from his 6th wife, natch). You also failed to mention that Robb and Catelyn get news about Winterfell in this chapter!
JN Note: edmure should suck it up and do as hes told. im pretty sure he Fed up earlier and its his fault tywin was able to save kings landing and beat stannis in the first place. as for the marriage stuff, id be mad to if i was gonna get to marry a Queen but instead i had to marry her loser aunt edmure.

They march to the wedding and it's raining. Catelyn pisses off her brother by saying that he should be hoping that his new wife is loyal not pretty. Then she pisses off Robb who wants to name Jon Snow his heir in case he has no son. Catelyn, who hates Jon Snow, thinks this is a terrible idea. (Whereas I was like yayyy King Jon Snow!) They cannot cross the river b/c of the rains and have to go around it. They meet up with a traveler who has escaped from Dragonstone. Balon Greyjoy is dead. Robb forms this plan to split his forces into three and march up the neck to retake Moat Cailin. Catelyn isn't so sure. Turns out he is sending Catelyn to Seagard to wait out the war. Catelyn has been trixxxxxxxxxed!!!! (Where is Seagard again?)
CB Note: I also was like YAY KING JON SNOW! I heart Jon. Looking at the map, Seagard is just a bit West of the Twins, much farther North than Riverrun.
JN Note: Balon Greyjoy is dead? ohnoes, was it melisandre? he totes deserved it tho, fyi. Seagard is on the map, its just a town on the west coast far away from stuff. as for this King Jon Snow business - great idea robb! cant have sansa being your heir and letting tyrion be king!!!
RK Note: I also was all YAY JON SNOW, I wish Catelyn were kinder to him!

Arya: So much awesome Arya stuff. They go to this secret cave where Thoros is there. He looks nothing like he used to, all gaunt and skinny. Turns out he has refound the whole Lord of Light thing. (Bit of a reborn nutso if you ask me.) Hound is there and they are sitting in judgment of him. Turns out there is going to be combat b/w him and Beric to judge him. Trial by combat, btw, is the dumbest thing ever!!! I already "blogged" this by im so I won't go into too much detail. Beric has flaming sword which Hound is scared of but some how Hound wins :(. They send him off.
JN Note: note, as far as judging is concerned, it seemed that beric was gonna win ez, but all of a sudden hound just broke his sword! was it Rhllor intervening?!?!
CB Note: OMG @ you and Rhllor.
RK Note: R'hllor sure has some powers to bring Beric back to life SIX TIMES. I mean omg that is some crazy power....

Next they ambush this group of Bloody Mummers and and end up hanging them all. Arya talks to Beric and he tells her about the many times he almost died, twice by the hand of the stupid Cleganes. Not much happens.
JN Note: ummm.. Thoros has been bringing beric back from the dead multiple times, and thats "not much happened?" as john mcenroe (and ed zalinsky) woudl say, "you cant be serious!!!" also, you may recall that throughout books 2 and 3 we hear people talk about all the different ways berics been killed and how hes totes dead but nobody knows for sure. cool, in hindsight.
RK Note: SO AWESOME that we've been hearing all along all the different ways Beric is said to have died, and its all TRUE, but he's still alive! SO COOL!!!!

Next, Thoros leads them back to that high hill place where they again see the old woman. She is telling her dreams but this time notices Arya and make some comment about how she smells of death. She predicts a number of things. Something about a goat and then a feast with a woman with vipers in her hair (hmm...?? I can only think of Cersei cause she is such a biotch...) They learn that Catelyn has gone to the Twins to see her brother married. We learn possibly who Jon's mother is! She talks to beric's squire who says he was milk brothers b/c his wet-nurse was Jon's mother. Hmm....doesn't sound right. Then we learn that before he married Catelyn, Ned had fallen in love with Ashara but who committed suicide from a broken heart. If Ashara is Jon's mother then he is highborn yeah? They get to an inn and Arya stupidly storms off and gets caught by the Hound! NOoooo....
CB Note: High Heart is the place with the old woman. Ok, so I've spent so much time reading this blog and noting that I think my brain is fried cause I'm so confused. haha. So I'm going to refer to our helper site to get my thoughts straight. First off, I'll help out by pasting the old woman's dreams: "She dreamed of the goat sitting alone and fevered in the hall of kings as the great dog descends on him, a wolf howling in grief in the rain, a clangor of horns and drums and the sad sound of a little bell, a maid at a feast with purple serpents in her hair, and the same maid slaying a giant in a castle built of snow. She senses Arya and tells her to come closer. She says Arya is a blood child and smells of death." Arya smells of death?! Whatchu talkin bout old lady!? Then we get to Arya finding out about Jon's mom!!! Even if his mom is high-born, he's still a Bastard, so it doesn't really change anything, since he's a Stark child already anyway. Anyway, I was also upset with Arya for running away again!
JN Note: since im in a helping spirit, i will note that when dreams are separated by punctuation marks called commas, which look like this: >>>> , <<<<>

Now here is where there is a huge NUT. NUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!! I will paste my gchat conversation as proof:

Caryn: why am i sooooooooooooo tired
me: i'm sooo sleepy too and pissed b/c apparently the hound got away again tell J my nut is that he joins the outlaws cause he has no where else to go and despite being a jackass he saved sansa so deep down he could be good
Caryn: how much did you read last night?
me: none. i just read one more chapter now
Caryn: ah well keep reading :)

Now the Hound doesn't join the outlaws. That's true but they cross this river and we learn he is riding to take Arya back to Catelyn so he can ransom her but also so that maybe Robb will reward him by taking him into his service. I think he is good deep down! Ha! Maybe Arya will finally get back to her family!!!!! I hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!! That deserve at least 60% nut credit!
CB Note: I'm confused again, due to fried brain from this neverending blog lol. I just don't see the NUT in there! The "deep down he could be good" part? Cause if that's it, that's way less than 60%! The "NUT" attempt was that he'd join the outlaws!
JN Note: im feeling bad for lb, since he gets so few nuts. and the hound did save sansa. so he nutted that the hound saved sansa. that deserves credit, right? maybe the nut attempt is "maybe arya will get back to her family" - that sounds like its gotta be true, right? i dont see how it could be wrong...
RK Note: Having trouble following the JN notes here. Anyway I am very curious about Jon's mother!!!! Dreams:
Goat sitting alone and fevered in the hall of kings as the great dog descends on him = Vargo Hoat at Harrenhal with his fever from the festering wound from Brienne biting his eat as Gregor Clegane comes to murder him (or just chop off his hands and feet and watch him slobber)
Wolf Howling in Grief in the Rain: Arya crying with grief for her lost family members in those bad rainstorms?
Clangor of horns and drums and the sad sound of a little bell: The wildlings advancing on the wall? Dany in the slave city with a little bell in her hair?
Maid at a feast with purple serpents in her hair: Serpents? Sansa with the amethysts in her hairnet at Joffrey's wedding?
Maid slaying a giant in a castle built of snow: A girl slaying a giant at the Wall? Gilly? But it's the same made as the one at a feast with purple serpents in her hair... Hmmmmmmmm...

A Storm of Swords Entry 5

Sorry I missed yesterday! I did not have a chance to Blog :'(. So tons of stuff for today. I'll do by Character, cause it's easier.

Jon: Two chapters. In the first one, they're camped out by these caves right near the Wall preparing to go over on a mission. Jon "forces" himself to sleep with Ygritte to prove to them all that he isn't a spy. Shocker but he enjoys it and half the chapter is Jon and Ygritte going at it like Rabbits. Sad scene at some point where Jon goes to Ghost and tells him he cannot take him with because they are going to climb the wall and that he has to go to the Shadow Tower. I hope Ghost understands!!! Can't he just like strap Ghost to his back and climb!? Don't leave Ghost behind!!! A Stark (or Snow?) should not be without his direwolf!!!! Then more more Jon/Ygritte quality time in the cave. Ygritte is all experienced and telling Jon how he knows nothing and then Jon goes down on her...and she's all like silent and "No one has ever..." I have to be honest I find it awkward to read these parts on the subway. It was like when I read American Psycho on the subway. I kept on like looking around and seeing if people were looking at me...
CB Note: And here I thought they were going at it like direwolves. *Zing! Soooooooooo sad that Jon had to send Ghost away!!! I hate when any character is without his or her wolf. Lol to the porny chapter during your subway trip. Btw, nowadays I frequently say the phrase: "You know nothing, Justin Nash."
JN Note: while i see how reading these chapters on the subway can be awkward, i, like GRRM, fail to see how it cna be ok for charactesr to have their faces melted, but not ok for a lil lovin'! great zinger babe! and, its true, i know nothing, and she tells me all the time!!! as for Jon and Ygritte, she's a redhead, and hte carpet matches the curtains, so who can blame him!
RK Note: LOL to "You know nothing, Justin Nash." A Stark should never be without his direwolf, BAD THINGS happen anytime a Stark is without their direwolf, Arya would be in WAYYY better shape if she'd been with Nymeria all this time.

Dany: Really cool chapter here. She goes to purchase all the Unsullied even the ones who aren't' trained yet. The slave traders are hesitant to give her the untrained one but then....she sells them one of the dragons (Drogo) for all of them. I honestly at this point was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. So they give her that slave girl who translates as part of the bargain and funny moment when the slave girl realizes that Dany actually could understand Valyrian (sp?) We also learn that "valar morghulis" means "all men must die." Sooooo appropriate for Arya's prayers!!! So then Dany goes to make the exchange. She sort of half hands over the reins to Drogo who won't go to the slaver guy and she makes the guy say out loud that the Unsullied are hers. Then....all hell breaks loose. Dany tells the Unsullied to attack the traders and she gets Drogo to burn off the trader guys face! Such a gross image here of the guy's eyes melting! This was definitely foreshadowed when Dany asked Jorah why the Dothraki hadn't ever taken the city. Second bell on Dany's braid!!!
CB Note: As J would say, Dany totally pwnzed the shit out of those guys. I had the same reaction about Drogo! She can't sell him! She just cant!!! I loved when Missendei realizes she's talking to Dany in Valyrian and just goes "Oh" haha. Also so cool that she quizzes her on the Unsullied and finds out that if she were to ever sell them, they would have no problem attacking her, should their next leader order them to. Great foreshadowing for the later events of the chapter! I thought it was great and exciting and I totally didn't see it coming. She melted face - literally!
JN Note: one of hte best chapters in book. awesome suspense, action, and Dany badassness. cb totally thought she was gonna sell drogon. so did zero. i, on the other hand, knew better. loved her trixxyness with the languages, and the part where Missandei is like "oh" and dany is like "your name is oh?". the foreshadowing was great as cb said, dany askign the important questions for her own plans. another great part was when she was talkign ot hte troops after she took the whip, in high valyrian, there was like a one liner about one of the slavers, like "so and so turned around all of a sudde nand raelized she was speaking high valyrian" and its like you know hes realizing "oh f we are fuxxed." as for the importance of face melting, the verb "to melt face" is a common verb used in online gaming to denote slaughtering your opponent.
RK Note: DrogoN. Drogo was her husband, the dragon is DrogoN. Anyway I actually DID see this coming-- I KNEW that she would never really give up a dragon and I nutted that she would buy the slaves and then turn the slave army against the slavers and take Drogon back, AND I guessed she would free the slaves because she was so tormented about the slavery aspect, BUT I did not nut that she'd go on a crusade to flee every slave in the world. Who is zero, again? I totally knew she'd never sell Drogon. Dany is crafty enough to always find a way!!!

Sansa: Sigh. She goes to try on her new dress with Cersei there. You gotta know something is up. And as they are done Cersei gives her a maiden cloak to where and Sansa realizes what is going on. They are taking her to marry Tyrion. NOOOOoooo. I suppose as far as Lannisters it could be worse. He is really gross looking but he has been a better person than the others. Sansa ends up going because fighting is not worth it. Joffrey gives her away as King in her father's place. Jack ass. He makes some comment about how he can still have her whenever he wants. I don't think Tyrion would allow this. She should go with Joff and like kill him or something. They have a sad looking wedding feast and then they go up to consummate the marriage. Sansa is like physically revolted by the sight of naked Tyrion. But *shock* Tyrion is the only one in this entire series who will not sleep with a 12 year old! He says they will wait.
CB Note: Poor Sansa. And Poor Tyrion! I was surprised that Tyrion went through with it all, cause he didnt wan't to either really! But I guess he wants to make daddy happy. He's hoping for the best with Sansa since he has been nice to her in the past, but it's hard to Sansa to really equate the fact that he actually ISN'T as bad as the others. All she knows is that she's being forced to marry a hideous Lannister! Was sad when she refused to kneel down so Tyrion could reach her to put the cloak on her. That wasn't nice of her. Joff is a total JACKASS. I hate him!! At least Tyrion spared her from the Bedding process!
JN Note: great note on tyrion being hte only one not to sleep with 12 year olds. im sure this really raises him in lb's and rk's eyes lol. the rest is mostly covered, but its kinda sad sansa hates tyrion so much. he protected her a litlte from joff, but he just cant win. and sansa still aint that smart.
RK Note: INTERESTINGLY, I think Sansa should have slept with Tyrion-- he was being so kind to her and gentle, she should have volunteered and been a little more willing. Now at least Tyrion will PROTECT her from Joffrey, who is the biggest douche ever. We know Tyrion's manhood is fine! It's like Sansa has somehow managed to stay so innocent and vulnerable throughout all this war and terribleness and cruelty, sheltered in the Red Keep while the wars rage, whereas her younger siblings have ALL had to really grow up and become adults, even the little ones like Bran and Arya, who have been on the run and hunted and really faced with war and cruelty and murder, and the worst Sansa has suffered is some cruelty from Joff and of course the loss of Ned and she thinks Bran and Rickon, but ALL the Starks have had to deal with that. I mean all she had to do was marry Tyrion Lannister. She's warm and fed and has a bed to sleep in every single night and fine gowns and silks to wear and no one is raping her or hunting her, and she really has it better off than any of her siblings. Robb is off waging war and battling, Jon is off Beyond the Wall in the freezing cold and the Frostfangs and there's wights and Others and wildlings and who knows what to contend with, Arya is constantly running and being hunted and hungry and dirty and starving and eating worms and witnessing torture and murdering people and dealing with things that an 8/9 year old just should not be and she doesn't even have her wolf with her, and Bran and Rickon saw their home destroyed and are on the run and supposed to be thought dead and then they have to split up so they're not even TOGETHER and Bran is a cripple and can't walk and they have to run and hide constantly and have nowhere to really go that's safe and are trying to go BEYOND the wall.... and pampered little Sansa stark is safe and warm and has a nice bed to sleep in every night, and now she's got a husband to protect her from douchebag Joffrey and some Tyrells to befriend and sew with and the Godswood, and yet she's so miserable and frigid, and she doesn't even know how good she has it! I mean granted Cersei is evil and she's not exactly safe there and is mostly a hostage, but once she's married to Tyrion she could at least be NICER to him and unmask her courtesy and ALLOW herself to find a FRIEND in him and trust someone and develop a bond, and seriously she should just sleep with him, he's her HUSBAND. Dany was her age when she was sold to Khal Drogo and slept with him and came to love him. Sansa is not half the woman Dany is!!!!

Tyrion: Good transition because everyone knows that Tyrion has not consummated the marriage. He is embarrassed but upset that Sansa is still so depressed. Tyrion goes to scope out the damage from the battle as he is now master of coin so he has to fix everything. He then goes secretly to meet with the singer who Shae likes. The dude actually threatens him to tell people about Tyrion and Shae unless Tyrion gets him into the singing contest at Joffrey's wedding. Tyrion says he will but then goes back to Bronn and tells him to kill him. Tyrion is called to his fathers who has a sword of Valyrian steel made for Joffrey and one for Jaime (and none for Tyrion. what a Jackass!!!) He wants to know why Tyrion hasn't consummated the marriage. Tyrion won't talk to him about it. We learn that the Tyrell's have turned down the offer to marry Cersei to the cripple dude. ha! They won't tell her this. Then they have a discussion about how difficult it will be to pay for both the wedding in all its extravagance and the rebuilding of the city.
CB Note: Nothing much to say about this, except I remember HATING Tywin in this chapter. Why does he always have to be so mean to Tyrion?!?
JN Note: the realm needs moneys! they need dwarves' pennies!!!
RK Note: Tywin is the BIGGEST dick and everyone is so mean to poor Tyrion!!! It's tough being master of the coin. I thought it was clever how Tyrion disposed of this singer!!!

Arya: They go to this city where they see these people in cages who are being punished. Arya thinks they may be Stark people so she gives some of them water, which pisses off the townsfolk. The town is run by the Huntsman who is not there at the time. The Huntsman hates the Lannisters. They go to stay at this brothel. Awkward moment between Arya and Gendry when a prostitute tries to pick Gendry up and then Arya is like "I know what a brothel is!" and Gendry blushes. The chapter ends with the Huntsman arriving with a Lannister. People think it may be Jaime but it is someone else who Arya recognizes (presumably from her prayers.)
CB Note: Arya is totally her father's daughter, giving the captives water is a very noble thing to do! Ha, reading the recap of this chapter reminds me of a part you sort of left out. The prostitute that tries to pick up Gendry was talking about how she might be Robert's daughter, since he used to frequent the brothel. Then she tries to get with Gendry, who might be her half-brother!! Good thing he didn't want to!
JN Note: i cant believe we did not get ANY nut attempt at who it is from lb. poor form lb, poor form!!! you cant win what you dont bet! as for that brothel, is it the one where all the girls got their bells rung?
RK Note: Is anyone else rooting for Arya and Gendry to hook up in a few years when Arya is older? I totally nutted it would be the Hound!!! I ALSO thought of that Caryn, about how Gendry and the prostitute could have been half brother and sister!!! Not that the Targaryens and Cersei/Jaime don't do the whole brother/sister incest thing, but ew!! And also when you're a bastard is sure is TOUGH to make sure you don't sleep with a relative!!!

Jaime: The bloody mummers have cut off Jaime's right hand. The plan is I guess to send him part by part to the Lannisters until they pay. It's his sword hand and he is pissed and it is painful. Another chivalrous Jaime part when he saves Brienne from being raped by calling out Sapphires and this reminds Vargo (?) that she is worth money so he stops them from raping her for the "sapphireth." They also like hit him on his stump and he passes out. They get to Harrenhall and Brienne is shocked to hear that the Karstarks are no longer allied with the Starks. But Roose apparently doesn't like the way they are being treated so he gets Jaime treatment and releases Brienne.
CB Note: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JAIME LOST HIS HAND!!!!!!! Wasn't that the worst? I felt so bad for him. Those stupid bloody mummers!!!!!
JN Note: the mummers were cutting off jaime's hand to end last chapter, and lb TOTALLY failed to mention it in that blog lol. as for feeling bad for jaime, i assure you, cb did nto feel bad at all when it happened. i remember her being kind of thrilled. as for lb, i believe this is a "hope" come true, only jaime has lost his hand, and not his you know whatsits, as per a recent blog.
CB Note: Excuse you! I was NOT thrilled about Jaime's hand. I may not have been his biggest fan, but I do not support decapitation in any way!!
RK Note: I was also sad for Jaime when he lost his hand! I'd cheer if Cersei or Tywin lost a hand though. I am glad you do not support decapitation Caryn, but I think what Jaime suffered would be called demanication, which I also do not support... Poor Ned was the one who suffered decapitation, which I concur that I am also against. It's amazing how many times Jaime has saved Brienne from being raped!!!

LOST April 15

1:00 - little Miles is one freaky kid. i dun see why they didnt get haley joel osmont to play him.
RK Note: That would be a good idea!

2:00 - cb is the greatest gf ever. she let me wow with zero tonite!!! /hug
CB Note: I AM the greatest gf ever...and don't you forget it!!
RK Note: Lol, Caryn, you're such an enabler!
CB Note: Well the hidden truth is that I don't get much of a choice as to if he actually plays or not. But I'm the "greatest gf ever" if I don't complain about it.

3:00 - lol at the Circle of Trust. sounds naughty.
CB Note: I feel like I've heard this before....thanks to google, I figured it out: Meet the Parents!
Jack: But the fact is, Greg, with the knowledge you've been given, you are now on the inside of what I like to call... "the Byrnes family circle of trust." I keep nothing from you, you keep nothing from me... and round and round we go.
RK Note: Wonder if the Lost writers made this connection!

4:00 - "welcome to the circle of trust." indeed! lol at miles to rusedski: "he sent me instead. im in the circle of trust."

5:00 - "the ditch had a gun". i like this miles! we need more of him.
CB Note: Me too! I'm so glad we're getting a Miles-centric episode.

6:00 - great idea by miles to figure out what really happened to the guy who got shot in the head by the ditch! sadly, i didnt nut that :(
CB Note: Miles talking to dead people isn't a nut anyway...but you still should be ashamed you didn't realize he'd do it...
RK Note: Major shame points for Justin not realizing Miles could talk to the dead guy! So, he talked to the dead guy, and his filling came out of his mouth and went through his head and killed him. SO CLEARLY MAGNETIC FORCES FROM SOMEWHERE ON THE ISLAND killed him! Aka the magnetism yanked out his filling with so much force it went up into his brain and killed him!!!! We know the island is full of mysterious crazy magnetic fields, sucks for people with iron fillings! Too bad back in the day they didn't have those pretty porcelain fillings you can get nowadays. I digress...
CB Note: Yes! I had forgotten about this while noting, but thought it was pretty cool during the show. That crazy island magnetism!!

7:00 - teenage miles totally looks like he plays world of warcraft...
CB Note: I don't think so. He's not a nerd, he's punk!

8:00 - mom wont talk to miles about his father! it must be dr hanso!!! and hes dead! howd he die?!
CB Note: Dr. Chang. Hanso was behind the Hanso Foundation who financed DHARMA. Btw, did anyone else notice that when Miles mom was presumably dying, besides the loss of hair, she looked pretty good, like pretty young and non-wrinkly?
RK Note: Yay! Caryn nutted this like 88 years ago btw! I tried to nut it on the March 18th Lost blog, but actually Caryn pre-nutted me about this on February 4th! Go Caryn.

9:00 - horace is sending the dead body to the orchid!!! to dr chang! is dr chang dr hanso? whose the guy who is always on the dharma tapes that locke watches. thats the guy im talkin about.
CB Note: See above. Chang was on all the DHARMA tapes, using pseudonyms Dr. Marvin Candle, Dr. Mark Wickmund and Dr. Edgar Halliwax.

10:00 - what's hurley writing in that notebook! something important, or funny?

11:00 - i dont think hurley talks to dead people the way miles does.
CB Note: I don't think so either babe! Hurley just talks to specific dead people, like Charlie! :)

12:00 - i think miles is just making this stuff up with this guy who is paying him in the past, bc miles needs the body i thought, or the place where it happened.
CB Note: I hope you don't think that obvious observation can be counted as a nut!

13:00 - hey, its naomi! shes about to recruit miles to send him to the island!
CB Note: Also not a nut considering we know that she does this :)

14:00 - im so over roger acting emo over ben. roger was the meantest dad ever!
CB Note: Ugh, seriously. Roger is the WORST. I can't stand scenes with him. He's SO EMO. It's like I'm watching J and someone shot his video game and then stole it and he can't find it anymore.
RK Note: lol

15:00 - lol at kate's feeling. good one kate. great nut.
CB Note: I don't see why Roger had to get all weird about it. That's just the sort of thing people say in a tough situation. "I'm sure he'll be fine!"
RK Note: Honestly! Kate was just like being a normal compassionate person and Roger got all unnecessarily suspicious over it!

16:00 - hurley and miles once again have the best dialogue.
RK Note: I LOVE Chef Hurley and his enthusiasm and the seriousness with which he takes his chef role. I still want to know what kind of dipping sauces best bring out the ham.

17:00 - omg hurley you are the DUMBEST!!! L2keepyourmouthshut.
CB Note: Lol. "I won't tell anyone about the body in the back!"

18:00 - hydra island! thats the name of the other little islands. and the doc didnt seem to think the experiments over there were very useful (going on about weighing turds and all)
RK Note: That's where the plane crash landed in the future, and that's where the cages are where Sawyer and Kate were held! And I guess that's where they have polar bears they're experimenting with and possibly sending through time to Tunisia and apparently weighing their turds has something to do with the study!
CB Note: True, we knew that those cages where they kept Kate and Sawyer were where they had kept the polar bears! Remember when Sawyer had to figure out the correct sequence to push certain big buttons in the cage to get food? And then Tom commented about how it only took the polar bears 2 hours to figure it out. lol.

19:00 - and lol hurley called him a douche.

20:00 - and quadruple omg bc that douche is miles' dad!!!!! soudns like a nut for somebody from weeks ago. was it cb? kurth of flowers? or did you two read it on other websites?
CB Note: I hope you're not surprised about this development babe! I wish I could take credit, but I actually accidentally read it on Eonline (as a possible thought/guess, not a confirmed spoiler) but as soon as I read it I thought it was brilliant and I believe I shared it with all of you :)
RK Note: AWWWW I really thought Caryn nutted it as an original CB nut (see above!) I tried to originally nut it on March 18th but I probably already had the idea in my head from Caryn's February 4th blog so I don't think it counts. Either way I was super confident this was the case and was not surprised to see it confirmed.
CB Note: Unlike J, I don't take full credit for nuts that aren't my own! ;)

21:00 - all i know is that i nutted it myself earlier this episode. so gg no re!
CB Note: Um no. We knew this already. Shut it.
RK Nut: Omg no WAY justin, you already clearly had read it in the February 4th and March 18th blogs from me and Caryn!

22:00 - who is naomi having miles check?! a delivery to widmore?! whoa, its a dude who apparently discovered that widmore and/or ben lied about the flight 815 plane crash and got killed for it.
RK Note: Digging up empty graves and buying old airplanes, CREEPINESS!!!!!

23:00 - "3rd day we were here i was in line in the cafeteria and my mother got in line behind me." - one liner of the season, hands down.
CB Note: That was super lol. Awesome.
RK Note: SO AWESOME. Also Miles might want to have spent the past 3 years at least cherishing time with his mom who it seems like might be dead in the future and getting to know daddy and seeing how his parents were when they were first married since he never knew his dad, how is that not FASCINATING to him??!!?!!
CB Note: Agreed! Can't believe he spent 3 years not really interacting with them.

24:00 - im enjoying how bens dad is a total dbag, now to jack, kicking mopwater like a real tuff guy.

25:00 - lol hurley trying ot be all mr smooth with the doc and miles.

26:00 - a fake fense into a "worksite". what is it forrrrrrr? the swan? i bet its for the swan aka the hatch.

27:00 - NUTTED IT.
RK Note: A good nut!! Credit given.

28:00 - and they threw in the numbers for good measure.
RK Note: At least they haven't forgotten the numbers, I can't wait to learn how this is explained!!!!

29:00 - cb has nutted that this mysterious guy in the van was working with the bounty hunter who apprehended sayid, bc last week he asked on the island about the shadow of the statue. well done babe. i ahd noe idea who this duder was.
RK Note: So who ARE these people? They're clearly anti-Widmore, but I can't decide if they're with Ben or if they're a whole separate thing? Are they like related to ancient secrets going way back when to when the statute was on the island? (which it my head is like thousands of years ago even though we have no evidence to clearly tell us what timeframe it was for real). What DOES lie in the shadow of the statue? And who are these peeps?!?!?! Are they with Eloise? With Ben? With themselves?

30:00 - btw, this guy is working against widmore it seems (he doesnt want miels to go help widmore). but, he must not be working for ben, bc he woulda known who ben was on the flight and when it crashed. so, who is he working for?!?!?!?!?!??!?! although, he did help get sayid on the plane, and ben wanted that. so maybe he is working for ben, but just doesnt know who ben himself is. very tricky.
CB Note: THIS IS CRAZY!!! So, this guy and Ilana and whoever else, were on the plane and also knew it would go to the island!!! It's a war!!! Widmore vs Ben? Who else would it be? Is there a 3rd party???
RK Note: See my wondering above, I have no idea!!!

31:00 - CHEWBACCA!!!!!
RK Note: I laughed SO SO SO hard at Hurley writing the Empire Strikes Back to send to George Lucas and the whole star wars substory, Hurley is HILARIOUS

32:00 - i bet this "development" is about the security tape that got left out.

33:00 - NUT.

34:00 - things are spinnin' out of control for lafleur!

35:00 - "and we got the ewoks". great hurley monologue on star wars and the perils of not making up with your parents, lest you end up like luke and darth vader. im just impressed they didnt make any disaparaging comments about eps 1-3.
CB Note: Would have been funny though if they mentioned how they didn't know what happened in ep 3, since it came out post-crash! :) Though I'm all for ignoring those 3 movies and pretending they never happened.
RK Note: I liked episodes 2 and 3, but not 1! I love Nabu and think it's the most beautiful planet in the whole galaxy. Also why did Hurley say the ewoks suck? I love the ewoks!!!! Dave has the Ewok Treehouse.

36:00 - scientists from ann arbor?! who are they? what are they here for? i got nuttin... i mean, nothin'.
RK Note: SO I was nutting that Chang was going to walk down to the sub to get the scientists and the scientists were going to like force Chang into a submarine and force him off the island and that would LEAD Miles' mom to think he left in the middle of the night without a word when Miles was a baby but REALLY it was totally against Chang's will and the whole thing is super tragic, because Chang was SUCH A CUTE DAD reading to baby Miles and omg Miles was the cutest little baby I just wanted to eat him up and put him in a onesie and snuggle him forever and ever. Anyway I am still holding out future nuttability that this will happen at the beginning of the next ep or in a future ep!
CB Note: LOL at your comments. I totally agree tho. And I am sure there is more to Chang leaving them then what Miles assumes (him just being a douche). He was super cute with baby Miles. Something fishy is definitely going to happen to him.

37:00 - that totes soudned like... FARADAY IN THE HIZZOUSE!!!! how did faraday get off the island?!?!?! glad to have him back. hes the bestest.
CB Note: Um...did the blog just END and you have it as 37:00?? Could you try any less with this blog??? Seriously!!!!
RK Note: So I guess Faraday either never left 1977 but just went back to America to Ann Arbor for a bit, OR he time traveled and got BACK to 1977 and is now back? I am guessing he never left 1977 but just left the Island. As to how Faraday got off the island, I'm gonna guess he took the same submarine he returned on!
CB Note: Agreed.
